On-Chip Lithium Niobate Devices
The ONG group also focuses its interest in nonlinear and electro-optic integrated devices. There could be several material choices, but we mainly work with thin-film lithium niobate (LiNbO3), a material that exhibits strong nonlinear and electro-optic responses.
Using the nanofabrication facilities at ETH Zurich and IBM Rüschlikon, we fabricate LiNbO3 photonic circuits that range from simple waveguides to more complex structures, depending on the device that we are aiming at.
