Following the demonstration of integrated Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer in 2020, we are researching a way to improve its performance in terms of resolution, bandwidth, power consumption and robustness. Eventually, our goal is to combine the platform with an ad-hoc designed integrated light source and a sensing waveguide to realize a sensor capable of detecting greenhouse gases.
This technology not only would allow to scale down the platform from relatively bulky, heavy, and fragile devices to reliable compact chips with no mechanical parts, yet also it could be effectively applied in other fields of research and in normal life situations.
